We use the information needed to run your conversations, remember what you ask us to remember, protect purchases, and keep iminbook reliable. We do not sell personal information or use third-party advertising trackers on this website. The app lets you export or delete your account data.
1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of iminbook (“iminbook,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the iminbook mobile application, the website at iminbook.com, related APIs, and support channels (together, the “Service”).
iminbook is a literary conversation app. It lets readers converse with AI-generated interpretations of characters from classic works in an original-world or modern-world mode. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected].
2. Information we handle
| Category | Examples | How we receive it |
|---|---|---|
| Guest and account data | Random guest profile identifier, hashed installation key, session records, account status, and—if you choose Sign in with Apple—Apple’s app-scoped user identifier and any email Apple makes available. | Created by the Service or provided through Apple. |
| Preferences and profile data | Language, time zone, selected conversation interests, notification preference, unlocked characters, point balance, and profile creation date. | Provided by you or created as you use the Service. |
| Conversation content | Your messages, character replies, conversation mode, saved Moments, reports, relationship summaries, and limited memory facts used to continue a relationship. | Provided by you and generated through the Service. |
| Purchase records | Product identifier, store transaction identifier, purchase status, points granted or used, refunds, and ledger entries. We do not receive your full payment-card details. | Provided by Apple and created by our points ledger. |
| Device and technical data | Platform, app version, request identifiers, approximate network information such as IP address, security signals, error details, and encrypted or hashed push-notification tokens. | Collected automatically when the Service communicates with our systems. |
| Usage data | Events such as app opens, character views, mode selections, completed turns, purchases, and reliability or latency measurements. | Collected automatically to operate and improve the Service. |
| Support data | Your email address and the information you include when contacting us. | Provided directly by you. |
Website data
This marketing website does not use advertising pixels, third-party analytics scripts, or a sign-up form. Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, may process network and request data and may set cookies that are strictly necessary for security or traffic management.
3. How and why we use information
We use information to:
- Create and authenticate a guest or Apple-connected profile.
- Generate, stream, save, and resume character conversations.
- Maintain relationship summaries and limited memories that make later conversations coherent.
- Show your point balance, verify purchases, grant points, unlock characters, and process refund adjustments.
- Deliver notifications you enable and let you save, export, report, or delete content.
- Detect misuse, moderate content, investigate safety reports, prevent duplicate rewards or purchases, and secure the Service.
- Measure reliability and understand broad product usage so we can improve the Service.
- Comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms of Use.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, your consent for optional features such as notifications, and compliance with legal obligations.
4. AI and conversation processing
To create a reply, iminbook sends your current message and the context needed for that conversation—such as recent messages, character instructions, mode, and selected memory summaries—to OpenAI’s API. We may also use automated systems to identify unsafe content.
OpenAI states that data sent through its API is not used to train its models by default. OpenAI may retain limited data for abuse monitoring or as otherwise described in its current API data controls and privacy policy. Do not include highly sensitive personal information in a character conversation.
Character replies are generated by AI. They may be inaccurate, anachronistic, incomplete, or unexpected, and should not be treated as professional advice or as a definitive edition of a literary work.
5. When information is shared
We do not sell personal information. We share information only as needed with:
- Cloudflare, which provides hosting, network security, databases, storage, queues, and related infrastructure. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI, which provides AI generation and safety services as described above.
- Apple, when you use Sign in with Apple, receive push notifications, or make an in-app purchase. Apple handles payment credentials and store transactions under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Professional advisers, authorities, or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or complete a corporate transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.
Service providers may use information only to provide services to us or as otherwise permitted by their agreements and applicable law.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep profile data, conversations, memories, Moments, unlocks, and point records while your profile is active and as needed to provide the Service. Retention can vary where information is needed for security, dispute resolution, legal compliance, backups, or fraud prevention.
When you use the in-app deletion control, we revoke active sessions and delete personal conversations, memories, Moments, preferences, notification devices, unlocks, and associated point-account data. Store transaction fields needed to prevent duplicate credit, process refunds, keep financial records, or meet legal obligations may be retained after being detached from your profile. Generated data-export files are removed as part of account deletion.
Deletion of an account does not itself request a refund from Apple and permanently removes unused points, unlocks, and chats from that profile. If you use a guest profile, deleting the app or losing the guest credential may make the profile and its data inaccessible even if it has not yet been deleted from our systems.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Use Me → Privacy & data → Export my data in the app to prepare an account export.
- Use Me → Privacy & data → Delete account and data to request deletion.
- Change notifications in the app or your device settings.
- Contact [email protected] for other requests or to appeal a privacy decision.
We may need to verify your request. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
California notice
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not knowingly collect personal information for those purposes. The categories collected, purposes, sources, and recipients are described above.
8. International transfers and security
iminbook and its providers operate globally. Information may be processed outside your country, including in places with different data-protection laws. Where required, we and our providers use recognized safeguards for international transfers.
We use measures designed to protect information, including encrypted network connections, scoped credentials, hashed or encrypted sensitive tokens, access controls, and separation of public content from private account data. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or loss will never occur.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If local law requires a higher minimum age for a person to consent to data processing, the higher age applies unless a parent or guardian provides valid authorization. If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to this section, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy as the Service, providers, or laws change. We will post the revised version here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
